Meet Derrick, our esteemed R&R Family of Companies Truck Driver of the Year! Derrick was nominated for this award because he is consistently on time and incredibly reliable.

With three years at the R&R Family of Companies under his belt, Derrick has become a cornerstone of our team, he is always willing to do anything that is needed and has a spotless safety record. Specializing in hauling a variety of loads, Derrick has recently focused on conestoga and flatbed work, predominantly transporting metal coils and beams.

Derrick’s journey into trucking feels almost like a natural evolution. Having grown up with pickup trucks and towing vehicles, he’s always had a passion for the open road. His lifelong love for riding dirtbikes, motorcycles, and quads seamlessly transitioned into his career with 18-wheelers, making him a perfect fit for the trucking world.

Outside of work, Derrick is an avid fisherman, often found casting his line in the Monongahela, Allegheny, or Ohio Rivers. His recent fishing trip to Myrtle Beach was a highlight, where he proudly caught a few sharks, adding a thrilling chapter to his fishing adventures.

Family is a new and cherished priority for Derrick. As a new father to a 10-month-old daughter, he recently shifted to driving locally to spend more time with his little girl. This decision reflects his commitment to balancing work and family life, ensuring he’s present for every precious moment. A true handyman at heart, Derrick enjoys building and repairing. He has a knack for refurbishing trucks and is excited to apply his skills to personal projects for his daughter. He’s currently working on a little dirt bike that will one day be hers and eagerly anticipates building a treehouse for her future playtime.

Derrick’s routes have taken him across the country, with the Sierra Nevadas standing out as his favorite spot. The breathtaking scenery and beautiful landscapes of this region never fail to be captivating, making each trip through the mountains a memorable experience.
