R&R and The XEL Foundation: Inclusion in Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix and Summerfest are more than just celebrations of motorsport and community—they’re events that bring people together for meaningful causes. The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix raises funds for individuals with autism and other disabilities, while Summerfest, held at the Riverview Golf Course Practice Range in New Cumberland, PA, recognizes the dedication and commitment of the military and civilian workforce to the Department of Defense mission. This year, The R&R Express Family of Companies, in partnership with The XEL Foundation, proudly contributed to these missions by bringing the XEL sensory trailer to both events in partnership with KultureCity. The trailer provided a safe and welcoming space for individuals with autism and other disabilities, ensuring everyone could enjoy the festivities.

This effort was a true team rally, showcasing the dedication and collaboration of R&R employees. Ella Lengauer, our Branding, Marketing, and Communications Specialist, initiated and managed the project by reaching out to the entire company for support. Among those who stepped up, Clint Prosperi, President of GT Worldwide Logistics--a company within the R&R Express Family of Companies—coordinated logistics to ensure the trailer made it to the events. Clint assured Ella that if a driver couldn’t be found, he would personally see the job through himself.

Clint alongside Rob Mongelli, Equipment Maintenance Manager, worked with his team, including Jeff Dean and Daniel Pintar, to make the transportation of the trailer happen. For the Pittsburgh Grand Prix, Rob, who has a background in driving tractor-trailers, stepped up to personally drive the trailer to the event, with Jeff riding alongside him. For Summerfest, Rob, Jeff, and Daniel coordinated with driver Daniel Geyer, who delivered the trailer to and from the event in New Cumberland. Their teamwork ensured the sensory trailer was available to provide a quiet, calming space for those needing a break from the excitement of the events.

Impact

The XEL sensory trailer visits and the distribution of sensory bags, we were able to make a meaningful difference for around 100 families. Ella volunteered at both events, dedicating over four days to ensure everything ran smoothly and that every guest felt welcomed.

Together, with The XEL Foundation, we’re proud to be part of events that celebrate community, inclusion, and the power of coming together for a greater purpose. Powered by Purpose, this initiative reflects the heart of R&R and The XEL Foundation’s partnership: inclusion and making a difference in the lives of others.

Look out for the trailer to continue showing up at events throughout the community.
