With the closure/boycott of the Suez Canal by most steamship lines due to security and also the major restrictions on passages through the Panama Canal due to low water levels in Lake Gatun International shipments can be impacted. These dual emergencies have the effect of forcing all steamship lines to transit via the Cape of Good Hope (South Africa) and will add 7-10 day transit times to all freight moving to the East and Gulf Coasts of the USA.
